Four ways Tasmanian businesses can use AI to improve digital marketing

November 14, 2023

Dive deeper into how AI can revolutionise the digital strategies of Tasmanian small businesses, enhancing content, visuals, and providing insightful website analysis for a stronger and more considered online presence.

By now, you've heard of AI, right?

It's a term that's been buzzing around and continued to grow in 2023, especially in the realm of digital marketing with names like ChatGPT, Midjourney and DALL·E all coming to mind.

For small businesses in Tasmania, AI presents itself not just a trending concept but as a tool to reshape their online presence.

From enhancing content creation, creating images and optimising SEO strategies, AI is becoming an indispensable part of a successful digital strategy.

So, how can you utilise AI for your business?

Let's delve deeper into four key ways AI can significantly elevate your digital game...

Creating Content For Your Website, Social Media etc.

One of the key ways small businesses in Tasmania can use AI is through creating content such as website text, blog posts, social media captions etc.

However, the power of AI in content creation extends beyond mere word generation.

Using AI to create content can ensure that it not only engages your audience but also aligns perfectly with SEO best practices, which can giveyour digital presence a significant boost.

Why AI-Enhanced Content is a Game-Changer:

Content is king, right?

Content is often earmarked as the cornerstone of digital marketing.

AI helps you keep pace with the ever-changing content landscape by generating relevant, engaging material swiftly and quite often more efficiently.

The real value and very important thing to note however lies in how you can personalise this AI-generated content to echo your brand's unique voice, making it resonate more with your audience and ensure it stands out.

Maximising AI for Content:

  • Utilise AI tools for initial content drafts, focusing on topics that are trending and relevant to your audience.
  • Personalise and refine this content, ensuring it reflects your brand's tone and ethos.
  • Maintain a consistent schedule of updating your site with this content, which is crucial for SEO optimisation and ranking on search engines.

Using AI For SEO

Titles and meta descriptions are more than just SEO elements; they are often a first opportunity to engage potential customers and help tell search engines like Google exactly what your page is about.

But what is a meta title, meta description or Heading 1 tag?

In the digital world, your titles and descriptions are essentially your first handshake with potential customers.

You'll often see the meta title and description when using a search engine, or in the top of a tab in your website browser, while headings are used on the page to help structure and organise content.

AI tools like ChatGPT can be utilised for SEO grunt work such as keyword research.

It's important that these on-page SEO elements are crafted in a way that not only attracts attention but also accurately represent the content they introduce.

AI can play a pivotal role in crafting these elements for your small business website or social media content, ensuring they are not only SEO-friendly but also compelling enough to drive clicks.

AI-Driven Title and Description Optimisation:

  • Employ AI tools to generate initial ideas for titles and meta descriptions, ensuring they are rich in relevant keywords.
  • Refine these drafts to make sure they are engaging, clear, and reflective of your content.
  • Regularly revisit and update these elements, using AI to adapt to the latest SEO trends and keyword shifts.

Creating Standout Visuals with AI

Blink and you'll miss it.

We've all heard about reduced engagement times, so visual content reigns supreme in today's digital world.

AI-generated images offer a fresh approach to creating visuals that not only capture attention but also complement your written content, while also enhancing the overall appeal of your website and marketing materials.

Engaging visuals are crucial in capturing and retaining the attention of your audience.

ChatGPT 4's new integration with DALL·E can be a great tool for custom image generation.

In a landscape where users are bombarded with information, AI-generated images provide a way to make your content stand out, ensuring it's both eye-catching and relevant.

If everyone is using the same stock imagery sites or images, it's also a great way to show uniqueness and the opportunity to really dial down on custom graphics or illustrations.

Leveraging AI for Unmatched Visual Creativity:

  • Use AI tools like DALL-E or Midjourney to create unique and innovative images that align with your business or content themes.
  • Incorporate Canva's AI features to design graphics that resonate with your brand's identity and message.
  • Integrate these AI-created visuals across your digital platforms – from your website to social media – to create a cohesive and visually appealing brand narrative.

AI for Insightful Website Analysis

AI's analytical prowess extends to providing deep insights into your website's performance.

This analysis is key to identifying opportunities for optimisation, particularly in areas like SEO and user experience, which are critical for online success.

Regular analysis of your website is essential for understanding its performance and identifying areas for improvement.

AI tools offer comprehensive insights, allowing you to make data-driven decisions to enhance your website's effectiveness or get feedback on areas that may not be as strong.

Dom's Tip: For ChatGPT 4 (paid) users, plugins like web browsing applications allow the platform to input your website URL, scan it and provide feedback or opportunities.

Strategic Implementation of AI Analysis:

  • Use AI tools for a thorough evaluation of your website's SEO performance and user experience.
  • Act on the insights provided by AI to refine your online presence, focusing on areas like site speed, user engagement and content relevance.
  • Continuously monitor and adapt your strategy based on the evolving analytics and insights provided by AI, ensuring your website remains competitive and effective.

In Conclusion: Should Small Business In Tasmania Utilise AI?

For small businesses in Tasmania, embracing AI in their digital strategies is not just following a trend; it's about being a trendsetter.

AI offers a multifaceted and, as we're finding here at Wakeford Digital a really efficient approach to improving content, visuals, and overall website effectiveness, leading to increased organic traffic and business growth.

We think it's really (really) important to note that AI isn't a silver bullet. Generating content and using it straight out of platforms like ChatGPT isn't appropriate and search engines, like Google, are increasingly getting better at detecting and penalising websites doing this.

We're finding however it's a great resource to do initial legwork - such as generating draft content, coming up with topics and ideas or doing base level research.

What does the future of AI hold? Will we all lose our jobs to AI?

We don't think so, not yet at least...

At this stage, AI needs someone to control it in the contexts mentioned above.

The difference between someone telling ChatGPT to simply 'write a blog post on the best SEO Hobart business' and using the first output versus one that works with the platform to craft more in-depth and tailored content will be huge.

AI has made massive progress recently however still can’t create content like humans can - so it's important to publish AI-only articles at your own risk.

That said, we feel AI presents a great opportunity for Tasmanian businesses to do tasks that were previously out of reach or took a long time to do and this presents many exciting opportunities for those who leverage it properly.
